How do you gain confidence when attaining self development?



1. Realize that you are not inferior


  It has to do with your mindset. The first step to becoming self-confident is remembering one simple truth: You are not inferior to other people. You always have to stop making yourself believe that you are somehow less and inferior than everyone around you. You are not meant to be miserable or less successful than other people. You deserve the same respect, success and satisfaction as everyone else. You really have to believe in the idea that you deserve the good things in life, and that you can actually have them, it's not a dream, it's completely attainable.

  In practice: Stop your negative self-talk and turn it into a more positive one that focuses on your qualities.

  2. Be a Skilled Person


  One of the main reasons you're not very confident is because you're not particularly good at anything. To gain confidence in a way, you have to prove to yourself that you are good at something. It's the skills you develop that will have a long-lasting impact on your confidence level, because when you learn something new and become really great, you'll feel really satisfied with yourself because you really didn't. I have done something that you can be proud of. So that the next time you have doubts whether you can do something or not, you just have to remember what you are good at. You have to say that 'I am good……..'. It is your choice to decide what is going to happen.​

  In practice: Pick up a skill and get really good at it.



3. Don't let others define what you are capable of


  What you may or may not do is up to you only, and no one else. Don't make the mistake of letting others decide what's possible for you. You may have heard a lot of people saying 'you can't do this', 'it's impossible' or something along these lines. You have to believe that you can do whatever you want, even when people tell you you can't. You make that decision, so don't give that power to anyone else

  One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to overthink something someone said about you. Doing so will make you feel really insecure and it will destroy your self-confidence, making you feel helpless and unhappy. Let's face it, people are never happy, and the fact is, you can't please everyone who you are. So what? The advice you should learn here is to take whatever someone says about you as a simple comment, not the truth. It may be hard at first, but you have to force yourself not to overthink it, as it will lead you into an endless cycle of self-destruction.

5. Use Body Language to Express Confidence


  As you probably already know, body language is our nonverbal communication tool. When used properly, we want to give that effect to other people but more importantly, the position of your body can change the way your mind feels. For example, standing up straight with your hands on your hips will make you feel more confident, bending over will make you feel like you are worthless….etc.
  Here are the main body gestures you can use to be more confident (shown in pictures):

  6. Fake It, Act Like You're Convinced
  I think this is the most useful tip of them all, I think you've probably heard it before, but it really works. The trick is that if you're not very confident at first, you just have to act like someone who is confident and sure of themselves. While doing this for a few months, you will see that it will gradually become a part of you, and eventually, you will have complete confidence in yourself.. Always ask yourself, what would a confident person do? and act on it.
